Caring, Growing, and Excelling in Aged Care

Meet Clyde Ancheta, a cherished member of our Infinite Care Edge Hill Orchards team in North Queensland, whose journey into aged care is both personal and inspiring. Clyde’s passion for this field stems from a childhood shaped by love, care, and the wisdom of his grandparents.

Growing up with his mother and grandparents, Clyde cherished the time he spent with his grandparents and helped to care for them as they got older. The loss of his grandmother during the COVID-19 pandemic was a pivotal point, inspiring Clyde to start his career in aged care. For Clyde, the aged care environment feels like home and reflects the family bonds and happiness of caring for his grandparents.

Teamwork Makes the Dream Work

Clyde enjoys the connections he has been able to create with both residents and colleagues and says the deep relationships formed in this industry as one of the most rewarding aspects of his role.

“The best part of my job is getting to know the team and hearing their stories. I love learning about their challenges and the life lessons they ‘ve shared with me. It makes coming to work each day so much more exciting!”

Dreaming Big

As one of the fastest growing sectors in Australia, Clyde has also embraced the growth opportunities that a career in the aged care industry offers. Starting with a Certificate III and IV in Aged Care, he is now preparing to begin Enrolled Nursing studies with TAFE. Supported by mentors like Fiona Lawson, the Facility Manager at Edge Hill Orchards, he has big dreams of becoming a Nurse Practitioner or Physiotherapist and is taking consistent steps toward achieving those goals.

Words of Wisdom for Aspiring Aged Care Professionals

Clyde encourages anyone considering a career in aged care to embrace the opportunity to make a difference.

“Thinking about a career in aged care? It’s an amazing field where you can make a real difference in the lives of older folks. To be successful, you’ll need some key skills like empathy, good communication, patience, and a bit of physical stamina. There are lots of different roles to choose from, like personal care, nursing, and therapy, and you can even get into leadership. Just be prepared for some emotional stuff but know that aged care work can lead to personal growth, teamwork, and a feeling of deep satisfaction.”

Recognised for Excellence

Clyde’s hard work and dedication were recently acknowledged when he received a prestigious Academic Excellence Award presented by the Mayor of Cairns, Amy Eden. This recognition not only highlights his commitment to his studies but also underscores the bright future that lies ahead for him in aged care.

Congratulations, Clyde, for your incredible achievements and the compassion you bring to our Infinite Care community every day. You’re an inspiration to all of us, and we can’t wait to see where your journey leads next!
