Hands up for women in Aged Care

On March 8th this year the world of social media seemed to explode into a sea of purple! This is the colour that symbolises gender equality, as we celebrated women from near and far during International Women’s Day.

It’s a movement that has been recognised for over 100 years and originated in Copenhagen when women decided to protest their working conditions. And as time has gone on, women’s voices have strengthened to the point where they can no longer be ignored.

Nowadays, we add the power of social media behind the cause and the result is a force to be reckoned with!

An Exciting Time to be Female

It really is an exciting time to be a woman in the modern world. Equality, fairness and respect for women is gaining more attention and air time than it ever has before. Women’s voices are really being heard and the ranks are gathering. They ask for fair recognition of all women do in their jobs, families and communities.

Women in Aged Care

The Aged Care Industry has always been very female dominated. Statistics in Australia currently show that around 82% of roles in Aged Care are taken up by women. And while these roles are predominantly admin and care roles, many are management roles too. In fact, at Infinite Care our statistics sit even higher at a close to 85% female workforce. This stat includes a senior management team that is heavily made up of incredible women unafraid to get their hands dirty!

The Aged Care industry would be a very different landscape if it were not filled with maternal instincts and feminine perspectives.

So here is to the women of the world, and the women in Aged Care. Where would we be without you?
