Here at Infinite Care we love sharing stories of our extended Infinite family!
Our Ipswich Facility Manager, Mach, recently shared with us some exciting news about his cousin…
“Humbly, with joy and gratitude from my family, I would like to share with you that my cousin Awer Mabil from South Sudan, has WON the Young Australian of the Year! What an honour to my family and the Sudanese Community. Australia, thank you so much!”
Awer Mabil’s journey is a story fit for Hollywood. Now a Socceroos star, who was raised in a Kenyan refugee camp, Awer is co-founder of the not-for-profit organisation Barefoot to Boots, which aims for better health, education, policies and gender equality for refugees.
According to the organisation, over 2000kg of football boots and uniforms have been donated so far, before broadening their activities by sending medical equipment, including incubators and ultrasounds, as well as sanitary items to help young girls meet basic needs and be able to attend schooling.
It seems genuine care runs through this impressive family, Mach is much beloved by his staff and residents at Ipswich.
Congratulations Awer, Mach and family ?
