Resident Story: Lucky Les Basks in his Cairns Cup Triumph!

Pictured on the right of this impressive-looking trophy is Les, one of our residents at Edge Hill, and the very proud part-owner of a horse who won the recent Cairns Cup!

Les owns a share in the ownership of a 5-year old brown gelding, who entered the race with odds of 8-1. He looked very dapper dressed in his suit as he headed to the track to attend the big race, after obviously first sharing the wager tip with everyone he’d come into contact with leading up to the big day! As a result of Les’ hot tip, we had a few nice wins, with one very happy resident cashing in $440, thanks very much!

Les proudly displayed the cup in the cafe the morning after his win, so everyone could share in his excitement. When we asked, he promised that no beer had been drunk from the cup… yet!

When we chatted to him about the experience, and asked him what he was going to do with his winnings, he laughed and said that they might buy another horse!

Continuing to live life to the fullest, and be out and about in the community, is what Infinite Aged Care is all about. We love seeing Les still out there enjoying his racing passion while he lives with us.
