With a recent spate of themed communities popping up around the globe, it’s almost enough to make you look forward to your twilight years. Fan of Disney? They have you covered. Love your Jimmy Buffet tunes? Well, there’s a place for you too!

FOOTBALL JOCKS UNITE

Catering for ex-footballers, Legends Landing in San Antonio Texas is the latest themed retirement community in the works. Legends Landing will feature 143 beds for independent living, assisted living and memory care and has been dubbed the ‘Disneyland for football’.

The community will boast a museum, sports complexes and a football-themed amusement and water park when it opens in 2020. Other potential perks include a bocce ball court, dessert shop, mechanic’s garage and a media lounge for watching football games.

Legends Landing will also offer former football players access to a range of clinical, fitness and wellness services. The community’s memory care wing is inspired by the Hogewey community in The Netherlands, which is designed to look and operate like a village from a bygone era.

MILITARY VETERANS HAVEN’T BEEN FORGOTTEN

The company selected to design and build the Legends Landing facility, is also responsible for creating similar themed senior housing for Naval and Air Force personnel. Check out Fleet’s Landing in Florida  and Falcon’s Landing in Virginia – seems there are some pretty nice digs out there for Naval and Air Force veterans!

DIE-HARD JIMMY BUFFET FAN?

Like nibblin’ on sponge cake, watchin’ the sun bake or strummin’ your six-string on your front porch swing? Well Margaritaville could be the place for you!

Announced earlier this year is a planned Florida community that has been completely inspired by iconic Jimmy Buffet songs. This reminiscent community will feature over 3000 homes for those over 55 who want to live a lifestyle inspired by the light-hearted tunes of a bygone era… and the demand to live here is intense!

In the first two weeks of interest registration there were more than 10,000 registrants and there have been more than 70,000 since then, Forbes reported.

ADD A PINCH OF DISNEY MAGIC…..

Another themed project in…you guessed it…. Florida, aims to capture a bit of its own Disney magic when it opens the doors of its 239-unit complex located within a community called, quite aptly, Celebration.

The facilities will include a rooftop sky bar where residents can watch the nightly fireworks display at Disneyland, and also offers a ‘stadium-style’ screening room for exclusive first-screening movies, an indoor pool and a top of the range fitness centre.

The goal is to give the community a similar look and feel as a five-star resort, while offering the same senior care services as a more traditional community.

Due for a 2018 completion, ‘Windsor at Celebration’ will offer independent living, assisted living and memory care residences. It is located next to the local hospital and a new skilled nursing centre so residents are able to transition into all forms of assisted care as the need arises.
