Shining A Light On Our Aged Care Heroes

Aged Care Employee Day is a special annual day designed to celebrate each and every team member involved in the journey of caring for people who receive aged care services – from the nurses and care workers, to the kitchen and laundry staff to the cleaners, volunteers, leisure and lifestyle officers, maintenance and administration teams. Aged Care Employee Day will be celebrated on 7 August and is a truly national event that is dedicated to celebrating the incredible contributions of all aged care employees around Australia.

Putting Aged Care employees in the spotlight

Through their dedication to their work, Aged Care employees foster very special, meaningful relationships with our elderly loved ones and often become like extended family members in the process. Their commitment to what is often a challenging, yet rewarding profession sets them apart from others.

Aged Care Employee Day puts all aged care workers in the spotlight, celebrates them, and highlights the many different roles of those involved in the aged care journey.

The aged care workforce in Australia

Everyone who works in aged care contributes to the care and well-being of older people.

Australia’s aged care workforce is made up of over 350,000 individuals who contribute to caring for older people. Approximately 80% of these people are working in non-nursing roles. The majority of the workforce is comprised of roles like Personal Care Workers, Hotel Services, Catering and Chefs, Lifestyle, Administration, Maintenance, Management and many other roles.

Each individual who makes up our workforce have an essential and valuable role to play in caring for our residents, and there is no better time to recognise each and every member of the team for the difference they make in our communities and to our organisation.

Infinite Care Celebrations

On Aged Care Employee Day (7 August) we will be recognising every Infinite Care team member who provides service to our residents, but will also be presenting some special Customer Service Hero Awards for those that go above and beyond.

The purpose of our Customer Service Hero Awards is to recognise individual staff members who have consistently demonstrated service excellence in every facet of their role and have represented themselves and the organisation as courteous, prompt in delivering care and any service requests, showed leadership in their role and ensure consistent and quality service delivery to our all-important residents.

These special Awardees are selected by their peers through an individual nomination process and will be the people who always put in that extra special something. Infinite Care Heroes are those people who consistently go above and beyond the call of duty, with a smile on their faces and a great can-do attitude that simply makes the people around them feel good!

What is Service Excellence?

Simply stated, good customer service is the extent to which our service meets our resident’s needs and expectations. Excellent service is when these expectations are surpassed, and when our residents feel that a team member has gone beyond the call – it’s that intangible, unexpected ‘extra’.

We hope you will all join us in shining a light on the amazing job that all aged care workers do for our residents. On the day please give extra thought and consideration to the challenging, yet rewarding job they all do every single day on the job. They are making a difference daily for our residents. What an absolute privilege and noble place for to be professionally.
